CORONER’S VERDICT

CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER ENGINEER PLACED UNDER ARREST (Per Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, March 29. At the conclusion of the inquest on the death of Frederick Witty, meat inspector, who was killed on the North Road on Miarch 8, tho Coroner returned a verdict that deceased met his ddath through being run oyer by a car driven by John Guy Dennison. Dennison is the engineer engaged by tho Southland County Council to supervise the work of bituminising the North Road. Evidence showed that deceased, who was riding a bicycle, had been struck from behind and thrown against the windscreen. Dennison was arrested on a charge of manslaughter, bail being allowed in one surety of £2OO. He was remanded to appear on April 7.
