CALLOUS DRIVER
CHILD KNOCKED DOWN LORRY TAILS TO STOP INFANT PICKED UP DYING [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, March 29. An inquest was held to-day on Paul Jones, aged 5, who died of injuries received in Vivian Street on March 8. The evidence showed that the child was seen in an injured condition and died soon after. Witnesses saw a lorrv disappear round a corner, but all efforts to trace it failed.
The Coroner (Mr Page) returned a verdict that the child was run over, but there was no adequate evidence to identify the vehicle or the driver. He added that it was desirable that instructions be given in schools as to the danger of fast moving traffic in the streets.
