CORONER’S INQUIRY
DEATH OF A CHILD “AN UNFORTUNATE ACCIDENT.” An inquiry into the death of lon*. Alice (folding, aged two years and eight months, who died after sustaining severe scalding at Okoia on March 21. was hold at lhe Wanganui Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon by Mr. J. S. Barton, Coroner. Dr. 11. Hutson gave evidence that he attended the child, and ordered her removal Io the Wanganui Hospital. She was suffering from severe scalds, and succumbed to her injuries ,he next morning. William Golding, grandfather of the child, said he conveyed two buckets of water to the cowyard preparatory to cleaning the separators. One of the buckets contained boiling water. Hi< attention was attracted by the Jit tie girl requesting him to fix up a swing in the cowshed. While he was doing this the little girl ran outside. Hr heard a scream, and on turning round he saw that the little one had fallen into the bucket of boiling water. The father of the child gave similar evidence. The Coroner said that death was due to the result of severe scalding, accidentally received. The evidence showed that no blame was attachable to any person. It was an unfortunate accident.
