THE GRAND “WHEN THE DOOR OPENED’’ A MAGNIFICENT PICTURE “When the Door Opened,’’ the William Fox picture showing to-day and to-night at the Grand Theatre, contains all the ingredients that go to make a photoplay a perfect entertainment. It has thrills. When you picture a terrific flood sweeping its destructive way over the countryside, or a -nine-tingling race in canoes through the turbulent waters of a mad rapid, or j. towering pine tree crashing to earth within a few inches of the heroine, you have an inkling of gigantic thrills incorporated in the film by one of the best thrill-creators among present-day directors. It has love interest —beautifully carried throughout the fast action by Jacqueline Logan and Walter McGrail, both stellar screen players recog L nised for their undisputed talent and artistry. It has comedy—clean effective humour, dispensed by Walter Chung and Hoy Laidlow, two chucklemakers of the first rank. It has beauty —the magnificent rugged mountains of the North, and the towering forests of Canada reproduced with vivid photography. It has plot, gripping, thrilling and tense —woven by one of the master builders of adventurous narratives— James Oliver Curwood. And it has a great cast. The chief supporting roles are portrayed by players of world renown. Frank Keenan, Robert Cain, Margaret Livingston. Roy Laidlow and Walter Chung arc the featured members supporting Jacqueline Logan and '.Valter McC.rail. The supports include Van Bibber as the Parisian Knight, Fox News and an excellent educational American paper mills. The box plan for to-night is at Moore's.
