NO IMMEDIATE DANGER URGENT QUESTION OF RELIEF REHABILITATING TIMBER INDUSTRY. NO RAIN IN SIGHT. By Telegraph—Per Press Assn.—Copyright. MELBOURNE, Feb. 19. Most of the bush, fires have now < either burned down to smouldering em- | bers or have been diverted into places . where they can do little damage to life I ind property. Rain is needed to put an end to the i danger, but the Meteorologist says none | is in sight. The attention of the State is now being directed to the urgent question of giving relief to many sufferers and to rehabilitating the timber industry and men employed in it. Already £50,000 sterling has been subscribed in the «ty. In the stricken areas local committees are working i earnestly to attend to the immedi-! ate wants of those dispossessed and I others needing assistance. Eleven missing men are accounted for, and it is thought that the full J casualty list is now known. All the injured except the two young i children of the Hodge family are re- ‘ ported out of danger, and making good ' progress.
