1 SHOWN BY WOOL TRADE SURVEY OF LONDON SALES The Department of Agriculture has ' received the following cablegram, dated ' February 10, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Wool sales closed Tuesday. Offerings totalled 166,000 bales, of which 138,000 sold, Home trade taking 70,000, Continent 62,000, and America 6,000. Lower basis of merino prices at the i commencement encouraged demand. | Scoured showed most alteration. Crossi bred met good competition and sold ' throughout at about December rates. Tendency firm at the close, and more i confidence apparent. ' Compared with December rates: Merino, better sorts par to 5 per cer l, inferior 5 per cent to 74 per cent., scoured, good 10 per cent, inferior 16 per cent, lower; crossbred, unchanged. Average closing rates: 60/64’s, merino, Is 5d to Is lOd; 56’s, super halfbred, Is 51 to Is 7d; 48/50’s, fi-e crossbred, Is 4d to Is sd; 44/46’s, medium crossbred, Is 24d to Is 34d; 36/40’s coarse crossbred, Is Old to Is 24d.
