CASE OF ARSON
MAORIS CONVICTED. TREATED WITH MERCY. [Per Press Association] AUCKLAND, Feb. 2. At the Supreme Court the trial was concluded to-night of three Maoris, Hepehe Eruera. his daughter, Tekui Hepehe, and wife, Sophia Hepehe, on charges of setting fire to a house over which a dispute had arisen. The jury returned a verdict of guilty against all th :u-"uscd, with a recommendation to,
mercy. The male accused was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, and the others were discharged.
