OCEAN’S MIGHTIEST BIRD
A COVETED PRIZE flightiest of the birds of the deep sea is the albatross. His wing stretched may run up to .16 feet, or occasionally more. It. is commonly said that, when angled for and captured by enterprising apprentices on windjammers, the breast of Iho albatross becomes a muff, his feet are turned into tobacco pouches, his beak into the handle of a walking-stick, and his wing bones into l pipe stems. An enterprising London firm is regularly importing albatross I wing bones for this use. The wing bones of the frigate bird are also used [ for the same purpose or for cigaretteholders.
