“ROTTEN WRITERS”
CHEMIST ON DOCTORS. “NOT FAIR TO PATIENTS.” LONDON, Dec. 8. The ATiddlcsex National Insurance Committee has censured a chemist for writing a doctor “a most improper letter” because he was unable to read the handwriting in a prescription. The letter ran: “I can’t dispense it, because I can neither read nor guess it. Anyway, we are not supposed to guess. As a member of the Aliddlesex Pharmaceutical Committee, I have been trying for years to force medical men who are rotten writers to use typewriters. I guess you come under that rule. It does not seejn fair to your patients to write so illegibily. If the case were urgent you would sign a death certificate.” Members of a sub-committce stated that they had had no difficulty in reading the prescription.
