PLEA FOR MECHANICAL HAULAGE Received Dec. 14. 7.55 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 13. Nearly a thousand influentual citizens, including G. B. Shaw, and the following ALP.’s: Messrs Clynes, O’Connor, Applin and Cockerill, petitioned the Coal Commission urging on the grounds of humanity that it should make a close examination of the possibility of substituting mechanical for pony haulage in coal mines.
