ON THE RIVER

MOTOR BOAT CLUB. A fivc-milc handicap race for number two trophy took place on Saturday afternoon. There was a high wind blowing and tho water was very rough. The race was noticeable for a chapter of accidents which had the result of reducing the number of competitors by half. After going a mile the Karoro mn out of benzine. The Petrol (with a new engine in) had tho misfortune to break her shaft after covering about fifty yards, and tho Cyclone was badly hindered with ignition troubles. However tho race was an excellent one, and resulted:—Kotuku 1, Miss Virginia 2, Stella 3.
