RANGITIKEI SCOTS SOCIETY. ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING. (From the * 1 Chronicle '3” Special Correspondent.) A largely atlrmivd meeting of members and others interested in the annual Caledonian Games was held in the Scots Hall on Saturday evening, the Society’s chief, Mr. A. G. Simpson, presiding. The chairman brief?/ outlined the object of the meeting—to decide whetn.r the Caledonian Games should be held this season; if so, to make preliminary arrangements. On the motion of Mr. T. G. Taylcr. seconded by Mr. J. Hunter, ’t was an animously agreed that the sports be held this season on a suitable dauj to bo arranged. A sports committee was formed. ccc:prising Messrs A. G. Ab»-i, it was resolved that a special committee consisting of six bo set up to make any necessary alteration** to the programme of last year. The following were appointed:—Messrs Gordon, J. Abel, F. C. Berry, R. G. Daizieil. E. Moon and J. Dickie, with the officers. It was decided that the Huntervillc Athletic Club be asked to participate in tho games and take control of the athletic events. Tho chib will also be asked to make FUgge«‘ions with regard to tho addition of other events, namely, cycling. Mr. Murray was instructed to secure from other societies —Taihapc. Turn kina and Wanganui—the dates of their games, and the date of the local meeting will be fixed on receipt of this information.
Mr. Murray was also instructed to make inquiries as to the allocation of championship events. It was deride*! to extend to the Pipe Band an invitation to be present at the games. The programme committee will meet to-morrow evening and the general committee will meet aghin on Saturday evening. RABBIT BOARD. At the Rabbit Board’s meeting last week the inspector reported that it was intended to act aside one day in the new year ni n general poisoning dav throughout the district.
