TAIHAPE
METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL. ANNIVERSARY SERVICES. (From the ‘ 1 Chronicle’s” Special Correspondent.) At the Methodist Church yesterday the Sunday school anniversary was celebrated by the holding of special services. A large choir of children, specially trained for the occasion, led the singing and the sacred solos and anthems which were contributed were appreciated by the large congregations. The Rev. J. Reid occupied the pulpit and at fall services delivered addresses in keeping with the occasion. He spoke appropriately to the children, who left the church with evident signs of having been greatly impressed. PERSONAL. The Rev. R. H. Catherwood. who has accepted a call to the Turakina Presbyterian Church, was *at one time Presbyterian minister in Taihape. He is at present minister at Kilbirnie (Wellington). GENERAL NEWS. Ideal weather for outdoor games prevailed on Saturday and the bowling green, croquet lawn and tennis courts were well crowded with enthusiastic players. Many local wool growers are visiting Wanganui to-morrow for the wool sale. They anticipate a good sale with prices on a par with those realised at Wellington last week.
