CITY AFFAIRS

FORTNIGHTLY MEETING OF COUNCIL The Wanganui City Council met last evening, the Mayor (Mr Hope Gibbons) presiding. There were also present: Crs. B. T. Bennett, C. P. Brown. C. H. Burnett, T. Carlyle, W. M. Falconer, W. J. T. Gilberd, W. M. Luxford, J. Morrison, T. H. Rice, A. H. Rogers, G. Spriggens and C. W. Poynter. Finance Committee. Tho Finance Committee reported as follows: N.Z. and South Seas Exhibition.— The committee recommends that the council’s vote of £350 towards the Wellington Provincial Court be passed for payment. Revaluation of Property.—The City Solicitor having advised that the owner of the property in Ridgway Street, the buildings on which were recently destroyed by fire, is entitled to a revaluation, the committee recommends that the action of the Valuer in amending the roil be approved. Remits for Conference.—The committee has authorised the Town Clerk and the City Engineer to report on any remits to be presented for consideration at the next conference.
