PERSONAL. Captain H. Monro, of the Canterbury S.S. Company, left Wellington on Monday evening by the Wahine for Christchurch. Mr. G. O. Knaggs, second mate of the Putiki. has been relieved by Mr. C. McPherson. Mr. N. W. McDonald has been appointed chief officer of the Ngakuta. The following officers have been appointed to the Waipahi:—Mr. W. J. Berryman, chief; Mr. H. Henry, second; Mr. P. W. Calvert, third officer. Mr. W. A. Todd has been appointed second officer of the Wingatui, relieving Mr. T. Y. I Marshall for holiday. The Storm loads at Picton to-day; due Wanganui to-morrow, 22nd inst. THE BREEZE. The Breeze loads at Lyttelton to-day, Wellington 22nd ; due Wanganui 23rd. THE CALM. The Calm is due to load at Bluff to-day, Dunedin 22nd, Oamaru and Timaru 23rd, Lyttelton 24th, Wellington 26th; due Wanganui 27 th inst. THE INGA. The Inga is due to sail to-day for Sydney via Greymouth. THE JOAN CRAIG. The Joan Craig is at present discharging at the Castlecliff wharf. Messrs S. Holm and Co. advise:THE HOLMDALE. The Holmdale arrived here yesterday from Wellington and sails for Wellington and southern ports to-day. THE JOHN. The John is due here to-day from Picton and sails in the evening for Lyttelton. THE PROGRESS. The Progress is at New Plymouth. From there the vessel sails for Waikato. Messrs A. Hatrick and Co. advise: — THE KAPITI. The Kapiti arrived in port yesterday from Wellington. She sails on the return journey to-day. RARANGA CLEARS DUNEDIN. To continue her discharge of London cargo, the Raranga left Dunedin on Monday for Lyttelton, and later proceeds to Timaru to complete. THE CANADIAN PROSPECTOR. To complete discharge and to commence loading for her return voyage, the Canadian Prospector is to leave Wellington to-day for Lyt.tclton, then Timaru, Dunedin and Bluff. She returns to Wellington again on November 2 from Bluff for further loading and leaves the same day for Auckland where she completes ■ and sails on November 7 for New York, Boston and Halifax. PORT HACKING IN STREAM. The C. and D. Line steamer Port Hacking, which finished discharging the Wellington portion of her New York cargo on Monday, was taken into the stream, where she is waiting for a crew. PORT NICHOLSON LEAVES AUCKLAND. The Port Nicholson left Auckland 5.15 pan. on Monday for Wellington, where she is due to-day to continue her discharge of London cargo. She afterwards proceeds to New Plymouth to complete discharge. DEVON FOR SOUTH. To complete her discharge of Liverpool cargo, the Devon leaves Wellington to-mor-row for Lyttelton and Dunedin. She afterwards loads in New Zealand under the auspices of the New Zealand Shipping Company for London and West of England ports. TONGARIRO’S MOVEMENTS. Now at Nelson completing her discharge of London cargo, the Tongariro leaves to-day for Lyttelton, thence Wellington, for Homeward loading, and is expected to clear Wellington early in November for London, via Panama. DORSET’S PROGRAMME. The Dorset arrived in the local roadstead
yesterday from New Plymouth where she continues her loading for West of England ports. Her other loading ports are Wellington (October 28 to October 31) and Lyttelton, and she is expected to clear the latter port early in November. LEITRIM’S PROGRAMME. The Leitrim leaves Port Chalmers to-mor-row for Bluff, where she completes discharge of her Liverpool cargo and commences loading. She subsequently loads at Wellington, Gisborne, Opua and Auckland, and is to , finally sail from Auckland about the middle of November for West of England ports, via New York and Boston. CARGO FROM NESL YORK. To continue her discharge of New York cargo, the Trefusis leaves Auckland to-mor-row for Wellington, and is due there on Saturday next. From Wellington the Trefusis ) proceeds to Lyttelton, Dunedin, and AustralI ian ports to complete. WEST CALERA FROM PACIFIC COAST. An arrival at Auckland on Saturday momt ing was the Swayne and Hoyt Line steamer West Calera with timber, case oil, and general ’ cargo from Pacific Coast ports. On arrival the vessel underwent inspection in the stream and then berthed at the western side of the Central wharf. On her recent voyage the West Calera loaded at San Francisco, Portland, Grey’s Harbour, Seattle, Tacoma. Van- ’ couver and Los Angeles. She completed her ’ cargo with case oil at the last named port, • and took her departure for Auckland on September 21. During the evening of Septem- ' ber 29 the freighter encountered a hurricane and was hove-to. The remainder of the voy- > age was made without incident, and the ves- • sei arrived as above. From Auckland the West > i Calera' is to proceed to Lyttelton, Dunedin and - Australia, to complete discharge.
