SOLDIERS’ GRAVES OVERSEAS
THE GOVERNMENT’S OFFER FREE PHOTOGRAPHS HAMILTON, Oct. 20. The Hon. R. F. Bollard announced to-day that the Government had completed arrangements for photographing all New Zealanders’ graves overseas. These would be distributed free of charge. The photographs comprise two coloured views of each cemetery and a black and white print of each soldier’s grave. Certain overseas photographers had approached relatives with an offer to supply photographs, and place wreaths on graves at prices varying from 10s to 355. Nothing was known officially regarding these offers. The Graves Commission was not associated with them. If relatives desired wreaths placed on any grave in the United Kingdom, France, and Belgium the Government would undertake the arrangement at the cost of the wreath.
