A London cable announces the death of D. J. Thomas, the Welsh international Rugby footballer.
The following are guests at the Rutland Hotel:—Messrs G. Humphrey (Sydney), Norman Heath (Auckland), and C. W. Smith (Wellington).
The loss the city had sustained as a result of the death of the late Mr G. D. Stone was referred to in a communication from Mr L. J. Sigley, of Auckland, received at last night’s meeting of the Wanganui City Council. The Mayor (Mr*Hope Gibbons) feelingly referred to the deceased gentleman and his services to the city in the capacity of gas manager, and expressed deep sympathy with the bereaved family and relatives.
Dr. G. W. Will, who has been appointed medical officer of New Zealand Mental Hospitals, has had a distinguished medical career. He is the I elder brother of Dr. J. Leslie Will, of i Christchurch. He was educated at ithe Waitaki High School and Otago I University, and after taking his degree [ he wins medical assistant at the Auckland Mental Hospital, and later medical I officer at Wanganui. He went to LonI don to continue bis studies, and joined up with the Imperial Army at the outbreak of war. Except for a break of six months, when ho was recovering from wounds, he was in France from 1 1914 till the end of the war, and after that he served with the Army of Oc[cupation in Germany, still retaining his connection with the Imperial Forces. He qualified as mental and nerve specialist in Lohdon, and then went to India.
