CRUTCHINGS SALE DALGETY AND CO., LTD. Messrs Dalgcty and Company, Ltd., report:—The second crutchings sale was held at Wellington on Friday, the total offering of all brokers being 1,250 bales. Thcie was a good bench of buyers and competition was very sound right throughout our sale. Crutchings were firm at late rates, prices being in sellers’ favour. Medium, inferior and seeuy showed lan appreciation of id to id per lb. Fleece, of which there was a miscellaneous assortment, brought good rates, and on the day were well above London parity. We offered a fair quantity of merino and halfbred crutchings from the Marlborough district, which sold well up to present ruling rates. For a change the majority of good to medium crutchings were purchased for the English trade. Japanese orders not being so pronounced as in previous sales. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., in conjunction with Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd. report: — The second crutchings sale of the season was held at Wellington on Friday, the total offering of all brokers being approximately 1,200 bales, of which our catalogue comprised 160 bales. There was a full attendance of buyers .and competition was keen throughout the sale. The catalogue mainly consisted of crutchings, which were keenly sought after at prices on a par with last sale, with the exception of super crutchings, which were id to per lb. easier. There was also a quantity of fleece wool offered, and this, considering the present state of the wool market, brought exceptionally good prices. Some of the best prices realised by us were as follows: Crossbred crutchings. —Kourarau 9ld, ABM/Taitawa 9id, Ngakonui 9|d, Te Paflae/Katatane 9}d. WJM/Haungarua 9d; Te Parae/Patukawa 9d, Titahi/EB Bjd, Landsend B|d, GT/P BJd. Lindale 8d; Ngakouka Bd. P.L. Co. BJd, HJ/G Bjd. 88/W 7id, GH/ 7Jd, HJC/Opaki 7Jd. Medium crossberd fleece. —TS/Gorc. lOd; Glenside, Awapiripiri, LEVIN AND CO, LTD. Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report: — The second crutching sale of the season was held on Friday before a fully representative bench of buyers. The total offering was 1,230 bales, our catalogue comprising 380 bales, of which practically all was quitted under the hammer. Bidding for all descriptions was very animlated and a satisfactory clearance was made. The general condition of the crutchings offered in this sale was not up to that of the previous sale held here. ' Nevertheless, for North Island crutchings, last sale prices were well maintained, and halfbred crutchings from Marlborough district show an improvement from to Id per lb. Tne fleece portion’ of lhe Catalogue was mostly comprised of the straggler wool of clips and docs not warrant quotation. MURRAY, ROBERTS AND CO., LTD. Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd. report.—ln conjunction with our fortnightly sale of skins and hides, we hold a sale of crutchings, at which a large number of buyers were present. The bulk of crutchings offered could not be said to be equal to last sale’s standard, and prices for the best lots submitted wore hardly at par. Medium and heavy-condit'oned lo*s sold at prices equal to, if not slightly in excess of last sale’s values, and seedy lots sold at about par. We offered •a couple of small lots of new shorn crossbred, which sold at very good prices, meeting with keen competition. The range of prices is as under:—
Wool.—Merion fleece 16di to 17d. crossbred fine 114 d to 14Ad: crossbred to 13|d, pieces and bellies to lOd, locks and stained pieces 4d to s}d. crutchings, superior 9d to 104 d, crutchings, medium to good 8d to 93d. crutchings, seedy and inferior 44d to 7d. lambs lOd to 14d, dead 6d to lid, halfbred crutchings 9d to 9|d, merino crutchings BAd to lOd.
