JUST BEGINNING TO WARM UP. j GROWING SUPPORT FOB GOVERNMENT. STATEMENT BY MINISTER OF LANDS. [Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 17. I “Tho campaign is only now begin;ning to warm up,” remarked the Hon. | McLeod, Minister of Lands, and chiair--1 man of tho organising executive of the ' Reform Party, when interviewed on I his return to Wellington from tho ['South to-day. j Mr. McLeod stated that ho had i spoke ar Fairlie, Kaiapoi, Rangiora, 'Waikouaiti, and Waimiate, and had • also spent a couple of hours at ; Oamaru. “The indications,” he reimarked, “strongly point toward growling support for the Government in ■every place visited. The campaign is ! only now really beginning to warm ; up, and, of course, all Opposition candidates are putting before the eleci tors reasons why tho Government Inhould bo removed from office. There • is little evidence of anything constructive in the attacks, and generalities | appear to be the chief stock-in-trade.”
