THE KOSMO. The Kosmo sailed for Newcastle yesterday. THE DORSET. The Dorset is due in the local roadstead during the week-end from New Plymouth, to continue loading for the United Kingdom. NEW BRITISH STEAMERS. Additions have recently been made to the fleets of both the P. and O. and the British India Steam Navigation Companies, the 8.1. liner Shirala having been launched at Hebburn by Messrs R. and W. Hawthorn, Leslie and Co., Ltd., and the P. hnd O. liner Rajputana, from Messrs Harland and Wolff’s Greenock yard. The P. and O. Company’s latest acquisition is intended for the mail and passenger service between London and Bombay. and is a twin-screw steamer of over 16,000 gross tons. She has a straight stem and cruiser stern, and is 370 ft in length by 71ft by 47ft 6in. With .the launch of the Rajputana, the P. and O. Company has now had no fewer than 91 vessels from Messrs Harland and Wolff’s Greenock yard alone. NEW AUXILIARY SCHOONER. The auxiliary schooner Antiope, which left Melbourne recently for Hobart, is a new vessel in the inter-State trade. The Antiope. is a three-masted auxiliary schooner, equipped with semi-Diesel engines, and owned by the Franco-Australian Trading Company, of Adelaide. She was built in 1921, and has a gross tonnage of 196, a length of 112 ft. and a’beam of 24ft, while she draws 10ft of water when loaded. She arrived at Adelaide at the beginning of June after a journey of five months under her own sail from Rotterdam, under the command of Captain Loisel, who commanded a mine-sweeper in the fire at War. NEWCASTLE COAL SHIPMENTS. The quantity of the coal (including bunkers) shipped at Newcastle for the week ended September 25 for places beyond the State was 66,045 tons, of which 56,640 tons represented shipments for Commonwealth and New Zealand ports, the remainder being for foreign ports.
