VIRGINIA LAKE

BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY’S CARE.

The honorary custodian of Virginia Lake sends the following: Again the Beautifying Society regrets to report that the white swan has for some reason deserted her nest. Only as recently as Friday of last week a big sporting dog swiam halfway across the lake after waterfowl. Though dogs are often left outside the gates, they gain admittance through the surrounding fences, which residents have not kept secure, although the Society bought and affixed the netting for mutual protection. It is intended at once to repair these gaps, land the inhabitants of this favoured locality, and visitors generally, by supporting the Society’s efforts, and by checking any observed interference the various aquatic birds and the flowers and shrubs, will bo complying with the oft-quoted, “Protect your own Property,” and “Service before Self.”
