RAETIHI.
THE WEATHER (From Our Own Correspondent.) Rain has fallen throughout tnis locality for several days and consequently the roads to the outlying districts have become very sloppy. Up to recently most roads were improving wonderfully after the hetivy rain of a month ago. The Tara para Road has been impassable for months pst. but settlers living ion this road are of the opinion that : by next summer the widening and metIhlling should be almost completed and | should permit of a considerable amount { more traffic during the following winter. EUCHRE PARTY A very successful euchre party was held in Harris’ tea-rooms on Wednesday evening in aid of the local branch of the Blanket Society. Njimerous prizes were donated by the various business people and the committee desire to return thanks for their generosity. The first prize winners were Mrs Jackson and Mr R. Tuatini, wnile i the “booby” prizes went to Mrs Plummer and Mr W. Dobson.
