The Daily News, commenting on Britain’s tennis decline, says: “Britain is not producing champions because she does not search for them. The L’awn Tennis Association has done splendid in the past, but it has failed to readjust its ideas to post war conditions. “Its horizon is still bounded by the word ‘tournament.’ The balance-sheet of Wimbledon is never published, but it is estimated that, there hfrs been a total profit of about £45,000 since its inception.

“It would not bo inappropriate if this was utilised to develop the democratic side, including 80 per cent, of promising tennis players, whose existence the association ignores.”
