CHURCH AND RACING
PREMIER’S ATTITUDE (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 21. Thc Council of Christian Congregations Itast evening adopted a report calling attention to Sir George Clifford’s statement that more racing days would be requested as well as the removal of certain restrictions. "We notice with regret,” continues the report, "that the Premier’s association with the turf is quoted. We tire slow to believe that Mr Coates will signalise his accession to office by flinging wide the doors for further gambling.”
