RUBBER WORKERS ON STRIKE

SYDNEY. July 21. ; A lightning strike occurred at the I Drummoyne works of the Perdriau Rubber Company, when thirty-two en-gine-drivers and firemen ceased work and the night shift refused to go on. Some weeks ago representatives of the Engine-drivers and Firemen’s Association waited on the management and requested an average increase in wages of seven shillings weekly. They were asked to put their claim in writing, which they did. As no reply was received the men decided to cease ■ work. About 11U0 employees are af fected.
