FOOTBALL.
A NEW GROUND WHERE WILL IT BE? At the present lime a committee of .-rtrtrop.siittio Sub-Uni,7a of Wanganui is pursuing inquiries as to the location of a freehold property suitable for conversion into a Rugby ground. The Sub-Union has under consideration an offer from the syndicate to secure several acres of the trotting course at Wanganui East, sufficient to lay out two or three Rugby playing fields, and this is one of the propositions which the committee is considering. Sooner or later the local Rugby controlling bodv will have to get a home of Jts own, in addition to the present Rec., for it is on this latter ground that most of the important games will be played. So tar as the trottipg course is concerned, to the eye it appears to be a suitable ground for the purpose, but there remains much to be done before football cun be played <n it. Drainage is one of the vital points to be considered. although it is claimed that there is a natural drop, and one authority declares then* is a fall of eleven feet. fn addition, a certain sum will />e required in improving the grounds and the erection of dressing sheds. The corn mil tee is looking round for a freehold area, but it is doubtful if they will secure one so handy us that property referred to. Their report will be awaited with interest, particularly among the football fraternity. LOCAL CONTESTS THIRD CLASS DRAW. First match.—Queen's Park 0.8. v. Kaierau. Aramoho v. Pirates, Fordell v.
