Received Julv 12. 5.5 p.m. MELBOURNE, July 11 At the Victoria Racing Club’s Grand National meeting yesterday, the big jumping race resulted as follows: GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE. (Of 2000 sovs.; 3 miles 1 furlong). DUNDALK (S. Meyers), b g by Pistol—Poise, aged, 10.6, Myers 1 MAILMAN (A. Waugh), b g by George Frederick—Mail Day, aged, 9.0, Waugh 2 PALBI (N. M<-Kvnna), ch g by Eaton Lad—Pixie, aged, 12.4, McKenzie .. .. 3 There was heavy rain overnight, and the track was soft and treacherous. Tho race was a chapter of accidents, only seven out of thirteen starters finishing, most of these losing their riders in the early stages. This left, lloama in charge, and he maintained the lead until he came to grief near the Abattoirs. Palbi then led from l Dundalk and Afailman. Dundalk led over tho last fence, and going on won by six lengths. Time: 6.22 L (Dundalk was third favourite a few days before the race).
