EMPIRE PRESSMEN
LEAVE SOUTHAMPTON : BETTER UNDERSTANDING EXPECTED Received July 12. 10.30 p.m. London, July 11. The Empire press delegates have I sailed by the Empress of France from Southampton. They were farewelled by Sir Jas. Allen and a large party of Australians. Lord Burnham, in acknowledging good wishes, said the delegates were gping to Australia to catch one another’s ways. They were unable to do so unless they came into contact with those responsible for the Government of the Dominions. It was with a real sense of patriotic duty whereon they were leaving. In a later interview. Lord Burnham said he believed the conference would produce a better understanding all round. The journey wtis purposely planned via. Canada, which was really the All Red Route. The conference would discuss not merely press subjects, but those of general interest, like our communication and Empire trade. Tt would be an opportunity which would possibly never recur for consolidating relations.
