CHINA

DEADLOCK IN NEGOTIATIONS. PEKING, July 9. The situation continues to bo a deadlock. It appears that the Chinese Government desires that negotiations regarding the last eight of the thirteen demands, as well as a revision of the so-called unequal treaties, bo taken simultaneously with the first five demands. It is understood that the Powers insist that the five demands arising directly from the Shanghai incident be discussed first. Meanwhile agitators continue to urge negotiations with Britain alone. The Chinese crow of- 400 belonging to the Empress of Russia wont ashore at Kolu without leave. The vessel is negotiating for engaging a Japanese crew to replace the Chinese.
