LIFE OF THE FUTURE—ON EARTH

A PROFESSOR’S DREAM LONDON. June 29. “Mankind is speedily approaching the stage when life will be sustained mentally rather than by physical power,’’ writes Professor Low in his new book entitled “The Future.’’ He says that man will ultimately be unable to bear the slightest hardship and he will be forced to remain in dwellings, only venturing into the open after special precautions. His normal days will include such horrors as radio alarm clock, synthetic felt one-piece suits, a hat always worn, because the beings will bo hairless, and loud speaker news at the breakfast table, with television and glimpses of events. He will always travel in closed motor cars. Shopping will bo made effortless by means of moving pavements and stairways. Communication will bo by personal radio with a metal aerial in the headgear, involving talking through hi* hat. Food will be prepared in com munal kitchens.
