MIGRANTS MUST SUCCEED IF THEY WORK
LONDON, April 30. The Hon. Philip Collier, Premier of Western Australia, speaking at Plymouth. where he was entertained by the Mayor, said that he approved the system of group migration. “There is no question of the success of migrants to Australia if they are willing to work. I am hopeful that group migration will again be set in motion when 1 return to Australia as a firm believer in country schemes.” A CHURCH SCHEME Received Mav 1. 10.30 p.m. LONDON, May 1. With the Church Assembly’s approval. an overseas settlement council has been formed in order that all the moral and material forces of the Church of England at Hume and abroad may be placed at the disposal of official’and other organisations engaged in migration. The council will, if needed, help migrants financially, provide for their reception and supply letters of introduction. The Bishops of London and Salisbury and fifteen leading churchmen are the first governing board. The churches in the dominions are asked to co-operate.
