RAETIHI NOTES
BOWLING T< (From Our Own Correspondent.) Another game for the Senior Championship of the Raetihi Bowling Club was played on Wednesday, when Johnston defeated R. Brycrs by 23 to 16. The players now in the championship are Coury, Jennings, Wise, Boyd, Johnston, F. Brycrs. The following are the results of other games:— i Soar and Burgess 24 v. Russell and Heffcrman 15. Black, McNie, Coury, Gibson (s) 24 v. Mann, Petty, Davis, Pedersen (s) 19. RAETIHI COLLIE CLUB There were some fifteen members present at a general committee meeting of the Raetihi Collie Club. Mr. W. Pirio presided. Mr. F. King reported that a deputation had waited on Mr. C. D. Scarrow with a view to ascertaining if he would be agreeable to allow the next dog trials to be held on his property. Mr Scarrow had consented, and members of the deputation were much impressed with the grounds. Mr Pirie also reported that he had interviewed Mr. Scarrow in reference to the same matter and he too was much impressed with the grounds. It was agreed, after discussion, that this year's trials to be held on Mr. Scarrow’s property, and that Mr. John Punch be written and thanked for the services he had rendered to the club and also that he be elected a life-mem-ber. It was resolved that the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild be granted permission to cater at the trials. The following events and prizes were agreed to:— 1. —Long head and pull to ring, first prize, £5; 2nd, £3; 3rd, £1; 4th, 10s. 2. Short head drive and yard. First prize, £l5; 2nd, £5; 3rd, £1; 4th, 10s. 3. —Huntaway. First prize, £5; 2nd, £3; 3rd, £1; 4th, 10s. 4. —All round dog event. First prize, silver cup, valued at £5 (won outright); 2nd, trophy, valued at £3; 3rd, trophy, valued at £1; 4th, trophy, valued at 10s. It was resolved that the Trials be held on April 8,9, 10, and the following committees were elected:—Sheep, Messrs. C. Lynch and J. Johnston: grounds: Messrs. D. McLean, F. King, and AV. Pirie. Dog Stewards: Messrs. A. Volkerling, G. Burgess and T. Punch. Ground Marshall: Mr. A. McLeod. Timekeeper: Mr J. Hunter. Stewards: Messrs. F. King, D. McLean, G. West, with power to add. Assistant judge: Mr J. Johnston.
