An old man, James Willan, sustained very severe burns ns the result of a kerosent lamp upsetting in his . whare at Dairy Flat, near Albany, last, night. Willan. who has lived alone for some time, rushed out of the whare with his clothing on fire. Neighbours Were attracted by the old man’s cries, and the flames were soon extinguished. 1 , Re was taken to Birkenhead and after- ‘ wards to the hospital, where he died six hours after admission. -SUICIDE CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 26. Francis George Stoddart, 26. committed suicide at Parnassus by shooting himself. Stoddart. who was a labourer i and rabbiter. was in bad health and ■ had been very depressed.
