AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS, ETC.
THE GRAND. “NO MOTHER TO GUIDE HER.” Commencing at this afternoon's matinee. William Fox will present at the above theatre a 1924 special production entitled, “No Mother to Guide Her,” a story about what might happen to anybody, told with dramatic interest, gripping to the end and refreshingly brightened by bubbling comedy. Genevieve Tobin, a new Fox star, heads a big cast of picked players. Human nature is the most interesting subject in the world and this photoplay is human in its every scene—a life story punctuated by heavy throbs and smiles; and will prove a story that you will love. The supports include “Phantom Fortune,” Fox News and a screaming Fox Sunshine comedy entitled. “The Wise Duck.” JUNIOR GARRISON BAND. The Junior Garrison Band has kindly consented to play a programme at the opening of the Wanganui East Bowling Club on Saturday afternoon. The band has promised to provide the music at the opening of the Union Rowing Club on Saturday week, and at a garden party at, Westmere on October 25, for the North Queen.
