positions of the queens. When the flags were hoisted yesterday the positions of the Queens were revealed a* follows: Green, Sports Queen (Miss Ethne Swan) j Pink, North Queen (Mrs. R. Farley) 2 Gold, Citizens’ Queen (Miss W. Bignell) 3 Blue, South Queen (Mrs. L. Kelliek) 4 THE SOUTH QUEEN. ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING YESTERDAY. A largely-attended meeting of supporters of the South Queen (Mrs. Leslie Kelliek) was held in the Agricultural Association’s Rooms yesterday. Mr. W. E. Broderick presided, and proceedings were extremely enthusiastic, and gave every indication of splendid results being achieved in the interests Of the Southern Queen. DANCE IN HARMAN’S HALL. Details of a dance to be held in Harman’s Hall were fully discussed. It was decided to ask the various district committees to provide the supper as follows:—Jellies and fruit salads, Makirikiri; sandwiches and savouries, Maugamah 1 and Kaitoke; trifles and cakes, Okoia. Other arrangements were discussed, such as charges, music, etc. The advertising was left in the hands of the secretary and Carnival secretary. The date of the function was decided upon as Wednesday, October 29. GARDEN PARTY AT “LORNTY.” The Okoia delegates reported that Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Strachan had j kindly offered the use of their grounds ' at “Lornty,” Okoia, in which to hold I a garden party, on Saturday, October 11. The arrangements for the function were well in hand, and if fine weather favoured the committee, a record day was assured. The Queen Alexandra Band was to be asked to assist, and arrangements to convey them 1 to and from “Lornty” on the day had been made. It was intended to extend an invitation to all Queens to attend. MANGAMAHU DANCE. Mr. W. Kelliek reported on behalf of the Mangamahu committee that arrangements for the dance to be held there on Friday were well in hand. A record crowd was expected if the weather was fine. KAITOKE DANCE. The Kaitoke delegates stated that a fancy dress and masked dance was to be held in the Kaitoke Hall on Thursday, October 9 (to-day week). Everything possible was being done to make this dance the most successful yet held in that district. ACTIVITIES AT BAZAAR. The secretary (Mr. Leo Wilson) reported that he had represented the South Queen Committee at a meeting held yesterday, convened by Captain Wales who had charge of the tearooms at the Bazaar. The four Queens were offfired the privilege of conducting the bazaar tea rooms, and Saturday, November 5 and Wednesday, November 12 were the two days, out of the ten, set apart for the South Queen. A general discussion on this matter ensued, and on the suggestion of Mr. D. Blythe, details were referred to district committees for consideration and report. MAKIRIKIRI DANCE. Mr. Broderick stated that another of the Makirikiri danees was to be held there to-night (Thursday). SPORTS QUEEN. The dance held in the Druids’ Hall bn Tuesday evening reflected the greatest credit on the hostess (Mrs. Wray Brown) and her untiring band of assistants. Suffice it to say that the function was an absolute credit to the promoters. The decorations, loaned by the Kaierau Football Club, and the splendid orchestral music by Moon's Orchestra materially assisted towards the success of the evening. SPRINGVALE LADIES’ GOLF CLUB. Members are request?-! to note that the afternoon tea arranged for the week-end has been postponed to a date to be advised later. GIFT. DAY.
