The discovery of a rich gold reef 4ft wide is reported from Calafat (N.S.W.). Prospects by dollying give lOoz of gold per ton. Two other finds, assaying between eight and ten ounces per ton, were recently made in the same locality. Germany has lifted the ban on British aeroplanes landing in that country until September 30. The London Sketch says the Germans are prooably hoping that Britain in return will secure a modification of the Versailles Treaty. The disaffected scouts in the Philippines total six hundred. The majority express their willingness to return to duty. It is officially stated that the situation will not require the concern tration of the Asiatic fleet at Manilas After consideration of the position of the coke workers employed at Hoskins’ iron and steel works at Lithgosq (N.S.W.) the chairman of the coke industry special tribunal ordered the men to return to work. The season’s sugar crop in Queensland will amount to 350,000 tons of unrefined. About 50,000 tons will be available for export. The Anglican Assembly (London) has approved of the principle of a clergy pension of £250 per annum, at the age of 70, after 40 years’ service.
