THE PRINCE
VISIT TO UNITED STATES. TO ATTEND ANGLO-AMERICAN POLO MATCHES. Received B, 9.35 p.m. NEW YORK, July 7. The New York Times’ Washington correspondent learns that the Prince of Wales, travelling incognito as Bar. n Renfrew, is expected to come to the United States to attend polo matches, early m September, between America and Britain. The Prince, though himself an ardent player, will not participate in any official matches, but he expects to join in preEminary practice matches, in which his countrymen will compete. The Prince’s visit to the United States will occupy a fortnight, after which he will probably return to his ranch in Canada.
The suggestion for the Prince’s v : oit came in a letter from Mr Le Stoddard, chairman of the Polo Association, to Captain Frederick Guest, a member of the Prince’s entourage, who replied that the Prince would probably enthusiastically accept an official invitation, which was forthwith despatched
