SORROW AT WHITE HOUSE

THE PRESIDENT BEREAVED DEATH OF HIS SON CALVIN Received July 8, 9.45 p.m. WASHINGTON, July 8. Calvin Coolidge junior, son of the President of the United States, died to-day, aged seventeen. He had received, a week ago, a small blister on his heel when playing tennis. Septic poisoning developed and he quickly became dangerously ill. Physicians operated on Saturday, slitting the left leg to the bone and inserting drains to carry off the poisons. The boy’s vitality sustained him through the day, but inability to take nourishment for the past sixty hours induced a succession of sinking spells, whence he was unable to rally.
