STOCK SALE REPORTS

DALGETY AND CO.. LTD. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Palmerton North, report on the sales of last week as below:— At the Marton Sale on Monday, the 23rd ult., there was a very fair entry of sheep and a small yarding of cattle. Owing to the recent wet weather noggets wore rather hard to quit and several lines were turned out unsold. Quotations:—M.s. lambs, to 21s 8d; cull lambs, 7s 9d; store cows, 17s 6d, 18s, to 255. At the Hunterville sale on Tuesday, the 24th ult., there was a small yarding of stock, which sold as below:—4 and 5-year ewes, to b.f. rams, 26s 6d; medium b.f. lambs, 14s; fat bullocks, £7 10s; store cows, 20s. At the Ashhurst sale on Wednesday, the 25th ult., there was a good yarding of both sheep and cattle. Sheep were rather dull of sale and several pens wore turned out unsold. Quotations: — Einptv ewes, 12s 4d to 15s 6d; forward ewes, 19s; fat ewes, 275; fat wethers, to 325; small w.f. lambs, 12s 9d to 15s; fair w.f. lambs, 16s to 18s; good b.f. lambs, 19s Id; 2 tooth wethers, to 27s Id; springing heifers, £3 10s, £3 17s 6d, £4 ss, to £4 15s; cows in milk, to £5 15s; store cows, 15s, 21s, to 255; light fat heifers, £3 15s; forward cows, 355, £2 10s, to £2 17s 6d. At the Taihape sale on Wedneslay, the 25th ult., there was a good yarding of sheep and a small entry of cattle. There was a fair attendance of buyers and all lines offered were disposed of under the hammer, there being a fair demand for all classes of stozk at late rates. Quotations: —Small cull lambs, 8s 3d; better sorts, Ils lid to 12s 4d; m.a. ewes, r.w. Rom. rams, 27s 7d; 4-year ewes, 23s 9d; wethers, 30s; 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 28s 6d; cows, 365; forward cows, £3 12s, £3 15s, £3 16s; 24 year steers, £4. At the Palmerston North sale on Thursday, the 26th ult., th#re was a very fair entry of cattle and sheep. There was a small attendance of the public and a dragging sale resulted. Quotations: —Forward ewes, 20s; light fat ewes, 23s 6d; light fat 2-tooths, 26s 3d; good s.m. ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, to 27s 7d; store cows, 20s to 21s; light fat cows, £3 Ils; forward cows, 27s 6d to 37s 6d. At the Mangawcka sale on Thursday, the 26th ult., there was a small entrj of sheep and cattle, which met a slow sale. Quotations: —Mixed age ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, 275; f.m. ewes, r.w. Rom. rams, 19s 6d, 20s; forward bullocks, £5 14s 6d; steers, £3 9s; 2|-year heifers, 30s; weaners, 8s 6d to 10s. At the Feilding sale on Friday, the 27th ult., there was a very good yarding of both sheep and cattle. Sheep on the whole were dull of sale, and quite a number of lines were passed at auction; cattle were also dull of sale, but practically all lines changed hands. Quotations; —Light fat ewes, 19s 6d, 21s, to 21s 6d; light fat .wethers, 275; light fat lambs, 20s 3d; store ewes, 9s Id to 10s 3d; forward empty ewes, 18s; b.f. lambs, 13s to 14s 6d; cull lambs, 8s 7d; small lambs, 13s to 13s 7d; small ewe lambs, 19s 6d to 225; 2-tooth wethers, 26s lid to 275; fat cows, £3 Bs, £3 Ils, £4 ss, to £4 8s; light fat bullocks, £6 15s; forward bullocks, to £5 18s; rough 4 and 5-year bullocks, £4 Is, store cows, 20s to 255; forward cows, 355, £2, £2 ss, to £2 10s; low conditioned 12-month heifers. 15s to £1; 18month steers, £2 8s to £3 ss. RAETIHI STOCK SALE. Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co., held their usual fortnightly stock sale at Raetihi on Friday, -and the weather proved fine. There was a fair attendance of buyers and prices were as good as the sale the previous week. The varding comprised 1000 sheep and 100 head of cattle. The yardiug of sheep was quitted and practically all the cattle. Quotations: — Fair 2-th wethers 29s lOd; small 2-th wethers 23s 3d, mixed lambs 22s 8d to 22s lOd; fresh full mouth ewes in lamb Rom rams 265; s.m. ewes in lamb, Rom. rams 20s Bd, 21s to 23s Id: cull ewes-in lamb Rom rams to £1 Cattle.—Gooff coloured 2-yr steers £3 2s; 15-mth steers £2 3s; fat heifers £3 15s, store cows £2 6s; 2-vr heifers r.w. Shorthorn bull £1 9s’, £1 10s to £1 15s; dairy cows £3 17s 6d. £4, £4 15s to £5 2s 6d.
