SOUTH AFRICAN POLITICS
labour and j-he cabinet. CAPETOWN 1 , June 29. While Labour is sharply divided on the question of entering the Cabinet, judging by resolutions passed at various branches, opinion seems steering in favour of inclusion. Significance is attached to the decision of the Dever branch.in Mr. Cresswell’s constituency, in support of acceptance of seats. General Hertzog is evidently meeting considerable difficulty in the allotment of seats, partly owing to the position of General Kemp, the ex-rebel leader. A section of Nationalists opposed his inclusion in the Cabinet, as likely to offend the British population, but others strongly press his claims owing to’ his influential position in the Western Transvaal.
