HOSPITAL CONTROL

AN AMERICAN CONFERENCE. DOMINION DELEGATE INVITED. Considerable correspondence has 1 passed between the Hospital Boards t Association in the United States, and J the Hospital Boards in this Dominion, with regard to a delegation, represen- i tative of the Boards, being sent to the 5 26th Annual Conference, which will j be held in September at Buffalo, New ■ York. Mr. William Wallace, the chair- j roan of the Auckland Board, says that 1 the ottier chief boards in the Dornin? ’ ton have been very anxious to know what Auckland thinks of the matter. It j is generally recognised that a delega- ] tion from New Zealand would be of the utmost value to the Dominion, but one 1 of the chief troubles here is that up till the present time there is no Hospital Boards’ Association in existence. ( which could discuss the question in a comprehensive way. and thereby with the minimum of time get the united opinion of the representative, of all the • boards. Any delegation leaving here to attend the conference in America would have to leave early in August and it sopld be seen that little time was left , to discuss and arrange matters. He bad. however, been authorised by the members of his board to take whatever action he thought advisable to advance the interests of hospital board work in this country. Especially did fce want to see a conference of boards meet in Wellington, while Parliament was in session, so that matters could be discussed and brought, under the notice of the Minister at the same time. A suggestion had been made that the conference should meet in Auckland, but in his opinion Wellington was the place to hold it when Parliament was in session, because then jheir deliberations would be more effective. He wanted to see a New Zealand Hospital Boards’ Association formed as soon as possible.
