SCENE IN THE FEDERAL. HOUSE. MELBOURNE, June 27.. A unique scene occurred at the sitting of the House of Representatives. Mr. Yates, in advocating the adoption of Sn Australian National Anthem, declared that Australians in the war had to content themselves with ragtime tunes, and added that if the chairman gave him permission he would demonstrate the merits of a. fine anthem, namely, “The Song of Australia.” Urged on by the Opposition. Mr. Yates sang the first verse of his song, his Labour colleagues joining in the chorus. Later, when the Speaker took the chai.', the Hon. S. M. Bruee protested against the scene.
