RAETIHI NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent). Mr Bird, senr., who was a resident of this district for a number of years, and is now residing in Palmerston North, is at present paying a visit to Raetihi. BUILDINGS. The building trade in Raetihi continues to be brisk, and contractors and carpenters appear to be fully employed. A commencement has been made with the vicarage and the Catholic Church is now almost completed. The heavy rain has prevented work on some of the new' buildings, but the contractor has made good progress with Dr. Feltham’s residence in Queen Street. Alterations and additions are also being effected to Mrs McDonald’s residence. Additions have • also been effected to the Dairy Company’s premises, and a couple of new houses are in the course of erection on the Raetihi* Ohakune Road. TIMBER. The timber industry still remains brisk and large consignments leave by rail weekly for the larger centres, and there apparently seems no shortage of the raw material. An advertisement of interest to sawmillers appears on our first page,, relating to 6,000,000 feet of timber for sale. The timber is situated on the Pipiriki Road, about seven miles from Raetihi, and comprizes matai and rimu. Those wishing to view' the timber should communicate with Mr W. Bell, Private Bag, Raetihi.
