“PORT OF WANGANUI”
In connection with a shipping par published yesterday morning, in which it was stated that the names for the new motor vessels for the C. and D. Line have not as yet been chosen, it has been suggested to us that, seeing the C. and D. lane is interested in the port of Wanganui in more ways than one, the company might be ready to name one of the vessels the “Port Wanganui.” It would certainly tend to place the Port of Wanganui more definitely on the map of the world. The company’s policy in the past has apparently been to keep evergreen the memory of its older traders. It is quite possible, however, that the comIpany would be pleased to add a new name to its shipping register in that ■of the “Port Wanganui.” The authority responsible for advancing the interests of Wanganui and its port, and incidentally devising the best methods of publicity, certainly might communicate with the C. and D. Line’s New Zealand office asking that the suggestion be passed on to headquarters,
