AMUSEMENTS. MEETINGS. ETC.

MUNICIPAL PICTURES. “THE LIGHT THAT FAILED.’’ The final screening of Rudyard Kipling’s famous story, “The Light That Failed,” will take place at the Opera House this evening. Rudyard Kipling is the most famous of living authors. The picturisation of his book, “The Light That Failed,” is a photodrama with a soul. Who has not read and thrilled over Rudyard Kipling, and now the screen shows for the first time his greatest novel, to thrill the thousands that have read it, a great throbbing story of life. “The Light That Failed” will be remembered as an epic of the screen. It is a screen novel. True to the book, it is handled in a masterly fashion by the director, with players of exceptional merit. This picture is worth while largely because of the excellent acting by Percy Marmont and Jacqueline Logan as “Dick Heldar” and “Bessie Broke.” The role of the artist who suddenly becomes blind suits Mr. Marmont admirably, and Miss Logan is an able second as the little guttersnipe. Those who have read Kipling’s famous novel will find few changes made in the screen version. Percy Marmont will be remembered for his characterisation of Mark Sabre in “If Winter Comes.” “RUGGLES OF RED GAP.” Commencing to-morrow, Harry Leon Wilson’s masterpiece, “Ruggles of Rep Gap.” Box plan at H. I. Jones and Son’s.
