AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS, ETC.

CONCERT AT DURIE HILL. A very successful concert was held at the Durie Hill Presbyterian Sunday school on Tuesday evening, the object being to provide funds to purchase a piano. Despite unsettled weather there was a large attendance. The programme was diversified, the items well selected, and encores were both insistent and frequent. Contributors were Misses R. Minnell, Brailsford, M. Simpson, L. Allen, R. Turvey, L. Hambly, Porteous, D. Buller, V. Smith, Messrs H. Reynolds, E. Hambly, H. Nelson,, S. Mayne, B. Tipper, D.' Tizard. During the concert Mr A. C. Buist thanked the audience for attending, and the performers for their services. ORANGIMEA SOCIAL AND DANCE. A very pleasant social and dance in conjunction with the Orangimea annual mock court was held at “Orangimea” homestead last Thursday night. Mr A. Laird presided as magistrate, and kept the company well amused until dancing commenced. Music was liberally supplied by Mr C. Collyer, to whom much thanks is due. The guessing competition was won by Mr W. Crawshaw. A sit-down supper was provided by the ladies of the district, and was much appreciated by the dancing couples. At an early hour of the morning enthusiastic voices sang “Auld Lang which brought a very pleasant' entertainment to a close.
