JAPANESE EXCLUSION
ANTI AMERICAN CAMPAIGN TOKIO, June 9. The political ruffians who on Saturday invaded the Hotel Imperial, interrupting an American dance, called a mass meeting at the Methodist Church and adopted a resolution demanding that the churches under American aegis should not tolerate the exclusion clause, and not only refuse further contributions form the United States but expel all American missionaries from Japan. The newspaper Yorodzu announces the boycott of American goods has now extended northwards to Manchuria and the Island of Hokkaido. Cinema houses in Tokio agreed to discontinue showing American films after July 1. U.S. GOVERNMENT’S REPLY. READY ON TUESDAY. (Sydney Sun Cable.) WASHINGTON, June 10. The Government’s reply to Japan’s formal protest against tne exclusion will probably be handed to Ambassador Hanihara on Tuesday. It is understood the Government will definitely and clearly state that there has been no violation of the existing treaty obligations. The reply will be dignified, friendly, but firm.
