A FARMER'S SUICIDE

(Per Press Association). GISBORNE, June 2. At the inquest on Clifford Hood, of Kanakanara, evidence was given that deceased was worried over financial matters, though he had not been pressed for money. He had previously threatened to shoot himself. On Sunday afternoon he was depressed and said he was going for a ride. His wife, alarmed at his depression and previous threat of suicide, sent a farm hand ter look for him. The farm hand saw Hood, who had a rifle under his arm, and rode behind him. Nearing The homestead, Hood dismounted and called out: 11 You ’re too late, old man.” He then placed the rifle to his mouth and discharged it. A verdict of suicide while of unsound mind was returned.
