(Per Press Association). GISBORNE, June 2. He had previously threatened to shoot himself. On Sunday afternoon he was depressed and said he was going for a ride. His wife, alarmed at his depression and previous threat of suicide, sent a farm hand ter look for him. The farm hand saw Hood, who had a rifle under his arm, and rode behind him. Nearing The homestead, Hood dismounted and called out: 11 You ’re too late, old man.” He then placed the rifle to his mouth and discharged it. A verdict of suicide while of unsound mind was returned.
