MARTON NOTES
REV. V. H. KITCAT FAREWELLED (From Our Own Correspondent). There was a large and represents tive gathering at St. Stephen’s schoolroom, Marton, on Monday evening to bid farewell to the Rev. V H., Mrs. and Miss Kitcat, who are leaving for Flock House. The rev. gentleman has had to give up his charge on the ground of ill-health. A letter was Received from Mr Kitcat, who was unable to be present owing to the state of his health. He referred to the fact that he had been resident in Marton for 14 years, and had made many friends. He regretted that ho had to break many happy associations he had formed. During the evening, Mr. E. J. Wilde, the parishioner’s warden, on behalf of the ladies of the district, presented Mrs Kiteat with a handbag, and on behalf of the choir, with a bag containing money. He also presented Miss Kitcat with cut glass and silver toilet ware. Easter offerings were given by the parishioners through the church to Mr_ Kitcat. Mr. Wilde referred in eulogistic terms to the high esteem in which the rev. gentleman and his family are hold, and regretted their departure very much. The Rev. D. Mclvor read the following resolution:—“The Session of St. Andrew’s Church wishes to record its deep appreciation of the work done by Rev. V. H. Kitcat during his tenure Of the charge of St. Stephen’s, Marton, expresses its sorrow at the cause of his departure from the district, and prays that the richest blessing of Almighty God may rest upon him and his family in future days.” Miss W. Beckett and Miss Theed rendered pleasing vocal items during the evening Miss R. Beckett and Miss Fitzherbert acted as accompanists.
