RANGITIKEI RUGBY UNION JUNIOR CUP COMPETITION. MARTON (14) v. HUNTERVILLE (6) On the Marton Park, the home team defeated Hunterville by 14 points to 6, after a fairly interesting game. On several occasions the visitors’ backs initiated passing runs, but they were too straight across the field, and no advantage was gained. Marton backs were handicapped by their half, who was obviously of no use to his team; consequently they were at a dead end. It was left to the home forwards to win the game, and, with the exception of a try’ by Thoms, the forwards scored the remaining tries, Rivers crossing the lino twice, and Wood on one occasion. Davis converted a try. Hunterville. ’s tries were registered by good play on the part of Green and Stevens, both putting in fine runs and crossing the line. Mr A. Sims refereed. OTHER GAMES. Bulls juniors beat Turakina, at Bulls, by 30 points to nil. Tokorangi defeated Rata juniors by 15 points to nil. At Halcombe, Tokorangi fourths defeated Bulls by 23 points to 3. Mr IL Nuttall has been appointed referee for the Marton-Rata senior match at Rata on Saturday. Mr A. Hunt will control the match between Tokorangi and Hunterville, at Halcombe.
